“Anyone can sketch!” is the Erin Hill philosophy that started the first studio in Australia back in 2011. The Erin Hill sketching system enables absolutely anybody to learn to sketch an impression of what they see. We call it Travel Sketching. Our Foundation classes show you how to see your subject and get it onto paper. That’s the first step many people have never been shown. We show you how to use simple colour – maybe just a dash of watercolour pencil, or perhaps we’ll use our tiny set of watercolours. Unlike traditional art classes in drawing, illustrating, or painting, we teach a simple and quick way to get your sketch or impression on paper. The simpler the better. There’s no right or wrong. Its about you and the image you see. Too much of today’s life is about reasoning and logic. Erin Hill Sketching is about getting in touch with your creative side. When we impose a time limit you don’t have the opportunity to ‘overwork’ or ‘overthink’ your sketch. The pen takes over, not the brain. That is why so many of our students say they see the world differently and feel more confident in other aspects of their lives. This underlines EVERYTHING we teach. Some people call it Mindfulness. We call it Travel Sketching! Since 2011, Erin Hill Sketching has expanded to numerous locations building a global community of Travel Sketchers.
